A question I am asked a lot is about high cholesterol and how to lower it. High cholesterol is not necessarily bad, especially in the aging population. Women in all stages of menopause and beyond, generally realize an increase in their cholesterol levels and their doctors have them in a state of panic and worry.

The higher your cholesterol, the longer you live.....Let Me State That Again....The higher your cholesterol, the longer you live!  Your body makes Cholesterol for many reasons. It is the foundation for all of your hormones. It is food for your brain. It is needed to build the structure of cell membranes. It helps your metabolism work efficiently. Cholesterol is needed to produce Vitamin D! Cholesterol plays a role in good digestion.

Constipation in Menopause is not unusual.

Hormonal fluctuation such as lower estrogen and progesterone levels affect the digestive system causing slow motility and constipation. Hormones act as chemical messengers in the body that help regulate many functions, the decline in estrogen and progesterone, specifically, cause changes including constipation.
